Check your website against WCAG 2.2 AA — free, honest, in about a minute.

Enter a domain and our tool opens up to 10 pages in a real browser, runs the axe-core rules and then tests what most checkers skip: the keyboard, visible focus, the layout at 320 px and contrast over images. The report tells you what failed, what a person still has to check, and how to fix it.

Free and without an account. Check sites you own or have permission to test.

What the check covers

Most free checkers only run axe-core on one page. This one runs it on up to ten, then adds the tests that need a real browser and a keyboard.

  • 01

    WCAG rules on every page

The axe-core rule set for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 at levels A and AA, on up to ten pages found through your menus and sitemap.

  • 02

    Keyboard and focus

We press Tab through the page and check that focus is visible, not hidden behind a sticky header or cookie banner, and never trapped.

  • 03

    Layout at 320 px

The width of a phone or a page zoomed to 400 %. Content must fit without scrolling sideways (WCAG 1.4.10).

  • 04

    Contrast over images

Where axe-core gives up — text on photos and gradients — we measure contrast from the rendered pixels.

  • 05

    Text spacing

We increase line, letter and word spacing the way some readers do and look for text that gets cut off (WCAG 1.4.12).

  • 06

    An honest report

All 55 criteria with a clear status, what only a person can check, and the fix under every finding. No invented score.

Why this checker is different

  • It does not frighten you with a score. A site with two small issues is not “66/100, not compliant” — you see exactly what failed and what did not.
  • It does not sell a widget. Overlays change the page on top of broken code; in 2025 accessiBe settled with the US Federal Trade Commission and agreed to pay $1 million over claims that its widget made websites compliant.
  • It says what it cannot see. Automated tests cover only part of WCAG, so the report lists what still needs a person.

What the law says

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) has applied since 28 June 2025 to many products and services sold to consumers in the EU, including online shops, banking services, e-books, transport ticketing and communication services.

Each EU country enforces it through its own law — in Germany the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), where authorities can order corrections and impose fines of up to €100,000. Microenterprises that provide services (fewer than 10 employees and annual turnover or balance sheet of at most €2 million) are exempt from the service requirements.

In practice the technical reference is the harmonised standard EN 301 549, which builds on WCAG 2.1 level AA; WCAG 2.2 AA, which this tool checks, includes all of it.

This is general information, not legal advice. Whether and how the law applies to your business depends on what you sell, where and to whom.

Accessibility check questions

Ask a question
01What exactly does the checker test?

The axe-core rules for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 at levels A and AA, plus our own tests: visible keyboard focus, focus hidden behind fixed layers (2.4.11), keyboard traps (2.1.2), layout at 320 px (1.4.10), text spacing (1.4.12) and contrast over images measured from pixels.

02If nothing fails, is my site compliant?

No tool can say that. Automated tests can decide only part of WCAG; whether alt text is meaningful, videos have captions or error messages make sense needs a person. The report lists those criteria separately.

03How is the score calculated?

It is the share of criteria that passed the tests, out of the criteria machines can assess at all. Nothing else goes into it, and criteria that only a person can judge are left out rather than guessed.

04Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account and no email address. A report stays available through its link for 30 days.

05Do accessibility widgets fix these problems?

No. A widget adds a layer on top of the page but leaves the code underneath as it was, so screen readers and keyboards still meet the same barriers. Fixes belong in the templates and components.

06Who has to comply with the European Accessibility Act?

Since 28 June 2025, businesses selling covered products and services to consumers in the EU, such as online shops and banking services. Microenterprises providing services are exempt. This is general information, not legal advice.

07Can you fix what the check finds?

Yes. An accessibility audit starts from €750: every criterion checked by hand and with screen readers, and a report with priorities. Fixes are then priced fixed before we start.

08Can I check a site I do not own?

The tool reads only public pages, the way a visitor does. Still, check sites you own or have permission to test.
